Atletico Madrid press conference LIVE as Diego Simeone previews Man City clash in Champions League

Diego Simeone will preview Atletico Madrid's clash with Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.

Atletico beat Manchester United in the last-16, and are now back in Manchester to take on City for the first leg of this last-eight tie. Simeone has taken a 22-man squad to the Etihad, but key defender Jose Maria Gimenez hasn't travelled through injury.

Pep Guardiola praised Atletico in his own pre-match press conference, saying the idea that they play defensively is a misconception. Simeone is likely to be asked about his previous meetings with City, and what Atletico expect from the Blues across the two legs.

The Argentine could also offer an update on whether Gimenez will be available for the second leg, and also give his thoughts on the five Atletico players in the squad who are one booking away from missing the second leg.

Gimenez was substituted late on in Atletico's La Liga win over Alaves this week and looked in some discomfort, raising doubts over his availability to face City at the Etihad.

Earlier, the Spanish champions confirmed that Gimenez has not travelled to Manchester for the quarter final first leg, and may be a doubt for next week's second leg in Madrid, as they named a 22-man squad for the fixture.
