Aston Villa veteran shares heartfelt message following Christian Eriksen's return

Aston Villa veteran Ashley Young has taken to social media to send his former teammate and friend, Christian Eriksen, a message following his return to football this weekend.

Eriksen made his debut for Brentford this weekend as a substitute in the 2-0 loss to Newcastle United, his first appearance since the distressing scenes in Euro 2020 involving the player collapsing on the pitch.

Young tweeted this about the Danish midfielder: "My bro was back on the pitch, what an unbelievable guy, person and friend.

"Great to see you back."

The link between the two comes from last season, where they were both part of the Inter Milan side that won the Serie A title under now Tottenham Hotspur boss, Antonio Conte.

The message came after Young reacted to his side's 2-0 victory against Brighton, where he featured as a substitute and played 11 minutes.

The 36-year-old stated: "Massive 3 points. tough week after last weekend but we showed team spirit and determination to win at all costs, even if we did arrive late.

"Amazing support from you supporters. UTV."
