Aston Villa tipped for huge summer signings after Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne transfers
Steven Gerrard has been backed to make major signings in the summer transfer window because he has already proven he can attract "quality players" to Aston Villa.
Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne both arrived from Barcelona and Everton respectively in the January window which were both regarded as huge deals for the club.
And amid reports that he has been armed with £50m to sign a midfielder this summer with Yves Bissouma and Wilfred Ndidi both said to be targets, Villa fans are excited as to what the future holds under the former Liverpool captain.
Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny believes that it will lead to some Villa exits as a result of the club's desire to make major additions.
"I’m sure Gerrard knows the money will be there to get players in if he needs to,” Kenny told Football Insider.
“At the end of the day, they aren’t his players. They have a lot of money there.
“Hearing the latest news, it’s shocked me a bit, to be honest.
“They will have to address that at some point. The best way to do that is in the transfer window, which will be massive.
“We have seen Gerrard can attract quality players so I’m sure he will be looking at moving a fair few of those players on.”
