Aston Villa receive Chelsea transfer message after Conor Gallagher update

Aston Villa have made a quick start to the summer transfer window having already announced four deals before the window has even opened.

Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen - who had both joined the club on loan in January - have penned permanent contracts, while Boubacar Kamara arrived on a free transfer from Marseille and Diego Carlos swapped Sevilla for Villa in a £26million transfer at the back end of last month. But Steven Gerrard's business in the market is far from over.

Reports claim that he wants at least three more players to add to his squad before the start of a crucial 2022/23 Premier League campaign, ideally before pre-season starts in the coming weeks. A left-back, midfielder and a striker are all on the club's radar, while fringe players and several returning loanees will also be allowed to leave Villa Park.

Villa have acted on opportunities when they present themselves in the market, as proven in the moves for Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers and Diego Carlos too, who was a signed at a fraction of the price which Newcastle United were quoted back in January. It could be interesting to see if Villa pounce on Chelsea's transitional phase this summer after the Blues were taken over by Todd Boehly.

According to The Athletic, Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Levi Colwill could all leave the club this summer amid interest from Premier League clubs. The report claims that the trio will all be looked at by manager Thomas Tuchel during pre-season to stake their claim for first-team roles. However, if they get the impression of only being fringe members of Tuchel's squad next season, they will inevitably consider their options.
