Aston Villa 'monitoring' Paul Pogba as shock Manchester United transfer claim emerges

Aston Villa are reportedly keeping an eye on Paul Pogba's situation at Manchester United.

The France international could leave Old Trafford for a second time when his contract ends this summer and speculation about his future remains rife. Earlier this week, Pogba dropped the biggest hint that yet that he is to leave Man United.

Speaking about his future, Pogba told Le Figaro : "You have to be honest, these last five seasons have not satisfied me — really not at all. This year is dead, we won't win anything. Whether it's with Manchester United or another club, I want to win trophies.

"It's simple with France, I play and I play in my position — I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players. It's normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it's hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your [midfield] partners.

"I get along very well with [France manager Didier Deschamps], he gave me a role that I know — but at Manchester United do I really have a role? I ask the question, but I don't have an answer."

PSG and Real Madrid are both said to be keeping tabs on the situation amid a contract stand-off between the player and the Man United hierarchy. And ambitious Premier League clubs Villa and cash-rich Newcastle United are also said to be eyeing a shock swoop this summer.

That's according to The Sun, who claim Villa are 'monitoring' Pogba's future. The former Juventus midfielder left Turin to return to United for £89million in the summer of 2016.
