Aston Villa have one huge advantage over Leeds United

Aston Villa face Leeds United at Villa Park on Wednesday evening and Steven Gerrard will be keen to capitalise on a Marcelo Bielsa team that have had a disappointing season so far.

Leeds have struggled with injuries, which could hint as to why their form and league position has suffered as a result. The absence of key players such as Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford has highlighted an issue of depth in their squad, which could provide Gerrard with a huge advantage over his opponents on Wednesday.

Villa have invested heavily in their squad and invested well whilst doing so. The depth they possess and can call upon in games could be a deciding factor in this fixture, as it was against Manchester United in the last game played at Villa Park.

Gerrard substituted on Carney Chukwuemeka and Philippe Coutinho, which eventually led to two goals flooding in almost instantly. Villa have an array of talent they can call upon off the bench, which could be key, as they aim to match the intensity Leeds so often bring into games.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Claret & Blue podcast, Ashley Preece and Conor McGilligan discussed the options that Steven Gerrard has at his disposal ahead of this fixture.

Preece stated: "Yeah depth, that's the key word there, that's what Villa wanted. You look at the options we've got, Ezri Konsa was a doubt for the match on Saturday so we brought in Calum Chambers. Decent little addition, free transfer, no risk there, he's been and done it so it will be interesting to see if he comes in.
