Aston Villa: Gerrard now 'needs a miracle' at Villa Park

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard needs a “miracle” to win over the entire the Villa Park fan base, according to insider Dean Jones.

Gerrard’s position as manager is under serious threat following Villa’s poor start to the campaign, with one outlet suggesting that he’s already been relieved of his duties.

Despite one defeat from five Premier League games, the Midlands club are just one point above the relegation zone after only two league wins all season.

Gerrard has already been booed on several occasions in recent weeks and was subjected to 'Gerrard out' chants from the Villa supporters at Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

Villa were much improved against Chelsea earlier last weekend, but their poor form in front of goal continued after they suffered a 2-0 defeat.

Jones recognised that even if Gerrard collects some positive results, he faces a tough battle on his hands to convince the entire Villa faithful that he's the right man to take the club forward.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It feels like he'd have to perform some sort of miracle to win over the entire fan base at the moment, the concern just runs too deep. Obviously, things were better at the weekend, although there were still hushed boos."
