Aston Villa fans make the same point as Crystal Palace tear Arsenal apart

Crystal Palace have started their Premier League clash with Arsenal like a house on fire.

Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring after 16 minutes for Palace, and Jordan Ayew got in-behind Arsenal's defence to add a second six minutes later. Selhurst Park was rocking half-an-hour in with Palace all over their visitors, and Villa fans have remarked on the Gunners' performance only a couple of games on from Mikel Arteta's side's win at Villa Park.

Bukayo Saka scored the only goal in B6 on March 19 to give Arsenal a crucial win in the race for the top four, but they looked a shadow of the side that did a job on Villa last month. Palace, by contrast, looked superb, and Villa fans had their say on the opening stages of the game on social media.

"When we played Arsenal we were passive, showed too much respect and allowed them to dominate much of the game,"one Villa fan wrote on social media. "Look how Palace have approached it tonight: they are on the front foot, aggressive with a high tempo and intensity putting Arsenal on the back foot.

"We could learn a lot from that!" Another added: "Villa should take notes from Palace on how to play when you are mid-table, you try telling them they’ve got nothing to play for," while a third supporter said: "First off it is amazing what a positive atmosphere can do.

"Then look at what happens when you get in a team's faces and give it a go...Villa could learn a lot from this Palace performance so far." "I expected Villa to have a go at home to Arsenal like Palace are here," another said while a fifth fan added: "Arsenal have looked poor and we made them look like prime Barca not that long ago."
