Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard are receiving a big summer transfer boost

Aston Villa winger Trezeguet has got off to a flying start on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir.

He has two goals and an assist from only a couple of matches for the Turkish top tier side, whom he joined earlier this month until the end of the season.

Trezeguet set up Pizzi for Basaksehir's opener in a 2-0 defeat of Gaziantep in his debut on February 12 before netting both goals in a 2-0 win at Caykur Rizespor on Friday.

The Egypt international was sent out on loan to get game-time and is in his second spell with a Turkish side having played for Kasimpasa, whom he joined Villa from in 2019.

Trezeguet scored 25 times and registered 18 assists in 71 matches for Kasimpasa, prompting Villa to make a £9 million move for the player upon their promotion to the Premier League.

He scored some crucial goals toward the end of the 2019-20 season to seal Villa 's survival from Championship relegation and scored a brace in a 3-1 defeat of Fulham the weekend before he suffered a serious knee injury against Liverpool in April last year.
