Aston Villa £100m transfer raid tipped as Philippe Coutinho price tag could drop

Good morning, Villans! Here are your latest Aston Villa headlines as preparations begin for the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League next weekend.

Aston Villa have been linked with both Yves Bissouma and Wilfred Ndidi in recent weeks, with the players' current teams demanding a combined £100 million when asked to name their price.

Speaking to Football Insider, Kevin Phillips has commented on the possibility of Villa signing the Leicester City midfielder and Brighton star.

“They would both be top signings but the money they are going to cost, wow, it will be a lot," he said.

“I think they are both very good players. They have both proven themselves in the Premier League. They’d be an asset to any club in the Premier League and certainly Villa.

Ex-Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton believes Philippe Coutinho has only shown glimpses of quality upon his return to the Premier League and has predicted the Brazilian to rediscover his best form under Steven Gerrard.

The Brazil international has made five appearances for the club since arriving at Villa Park last month and has so far made four goal contributions in claret and blue.

Coutinho can join Villa on a permanent basis at the end of the season for £33million

He and his teammates, however, have failed to impose themselves on relegation-threatened Newcastle United and Watford in recent weeks, as Gerrard 's side lost both games 1-0.

John Terry has revealed he 'still hates' that Aston Villa didn't get promoted during his sole season as a player there.

The long-time Chelsea captain joined Villa in the summer of 2017 and was part of the team that reached the Championship play-off final that following May, losing 1-0 to Fulham at Wembley Stadium.
