Ashford United manager Lloyd Hume on facing former Nuts & Bolts boss Danny Kedwell at AFC Croydon this Saturday
Lloyd Hume says it’s just another game as Ashford come up against former boss Danny Kedwell this weekend.
Kedwell, sacked by the Nuts & Bolts in January, returned to management a fortnight ago with AFC Croydon.
His new club host Ashford on Saturday (3pm).
Co-owner Hume took the reins at Homelands following Kedwell’s dismissal after eight months in charge.
He’s unfazed by the swift reunion but accepts there could be added spice in the eyes of supporters.
“If I’m honest, it means nothing to me,” said Hume, whose side are 12th, six points and three places ahead of Croydon.
“I’ve known Danny for 30 years, I don’t hold any grudges or any bad feelings towards him.
“It’s another game of football and another game where we’re thin on the ground, but I still expect us to go there and compete and try and get something.
“The fact Danny’s there makes no difference to me.
“It might add a little bit of spice to some fans and their mentality towards him.
“But it doesn’t to me, it’s just another game of football.”
Ashford, beaten 1-0 at home by Eastbourne Town last weekend, are missing a number of players.
Michael West, Tolu Jonah, Noah Carney and Will Duprey are out injured while Jack Dixon - sent off last weekend - and top scorer Gary Lockyer are suspended.
Barry Fuller is also a doubt with a groin injury.
Hume has made seven-day approaches for three players, and hopes to get one over the line by the weekend.
“The injuries and suspensions we’ve got show the lack of creativity we have in the team and the squad when certain key players are missing,” said Hume.
“That’s not an excuse, that’s the reality.
“My response to that is not to moan about it, it’s to do something about it and try and find more quality in terms of creativity so we
