ASDA shoppers go wild for £40 item that 'stops them using gas or electric' to keep warm

Supermarket giant ASDA is being praised by shoppers for stocking a simple £40 gadget that can help slash your energy bill every year. With many people struggling to afford to keep basic devices like fridges and lightbulbs going, ASDA's £40 budget buy is proving a lifesaver - and it only costs pennies to run.

ASDA is currently selling the Silentnight Heated Throw for £40 in stores. A similar blanket is currently down to £28 on the Silentnight website if you want to save some extra cash.

Electricals website OnBuy also has a more 'luxurious' version of the heated throw reduced down from £70 to £47.

Writing about the Silentnight Heated Throw, one five star reviewer said: "This was my second purchase as a gift, both were bought with the price of switching on heating at the forefront of my decision. My sister and grandson agree 'it’s the best present ever'.

"Both have health issues and keeping warm helps and the central heating can be kept off and this throw uses a minimal amount of electricity keeping costs down. The throw is very, very soft with variable heat settings and the bonus is it can be washed!! My daughter purchased one for herself she was so impressed."
