Asda customers say ‘I need’ as it launches a new pistachio croissant

Asda customers have gone wild for a new pistachio croissant launched by the supermarket, with shoppers saying that they ‘need’ to get their hands on one. One user on Tikok, @ratedfood, even called them “a thing of beauty”.

The supermarket announced its new pastry, the Extra Special Pistachio Filled Croissant, at the end of last month just in time for the summer. It joins nine other croissant lines in the supermarket’s bakery range including a Lotus Biscoff variety.

Available in packs of two for £2, the supermarket says: “The new Extra Special Pistachio Filled Croissant is a delicious all-butter pastry freshly baked in-store, with 24 laminations, for the ultimate croissant aesthetic. The nutty, on-trend pistachio filling balances the all-butter pastry and pairs perfectly with a morning coffee.”

The supermarket said that it predicts to sell more than 15,000 of the new croissants in launch week and that according to its trend forecasts “the pistachio flavour profile is expected to be big for pastry in 2024.” Already customers have been getting their hands on the sweet treat.

Several shoppers on Facebook commenting on Asda’s post said that they “need to get these.” One shopper wrote: “We’ve had them today they’re lovely” another added “beautiful, had them on Sunday.” One shopper was a bit put off by the colour of the green filling, Facebook user Jasmin Bacon said: “Haha they look moldy, would have to explain before giving to any guests lol.”

Meanwhile Tiktok account @ratedfood praised the pastry. They said: “A thing of beautyyy! @Asda is definately on the right track with this one. A solid buy considering
