Arsenal transfer news: Final details of first summer signing emerge as Marquinhos touches down for medical
Arsenal are close to completing a move for Brazilian forward Marquinhos after a report confirmed the finer details of Mikel Arteta’s impending coup.
The Gunners’ forward line looks poised to experience great change this summer. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will both see their contracts expire. Lacazette looks certain to leave, though there may yet be a reprieve for Nketiah.
At least one new centre-forward will be signed with Gabriel Jesus and Dominic Calvert-Lewin making headlines of late. The latest from Football Insider provided Arsenal with a quintuple lift regarding the Everton hitman.
Either of those strikers would represent a statement signing. But at the other end of the spectrum, Arsenal have quietly been going about their business forging a deal for Marquinhos.
The Sao Paulo forward, 19, will reportedly move to the Emirates very shortly. Arsenal’s progress on that front was detailed by Fabrizio Romano last week, though a fresh update has shed light on the finer details, including the player touching down in north London on Thursday.
The Sun and Goal both stated Marquinhos had arrived at Arsenal’s Colney training centre yesterday. The lively winger is due to undergo a medical while there.
Marquinhos will reportedly cost Arsenal the bargain fee of £3m. The Sun added a five-year contract running until 2027 will be signed.
