Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke sends message to fans after LA Rams win Super Bowl

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke had huge cause for celebration on Sunday night as his Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl 56.

The controversial American tycoon became full owner of the Rams - then based in St Louis - back in 2010 before relocating them to Los Angeles back in 2016.

He built the state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium costing more than $5billion, the most expensive sports venue ever built, and relying on loans from the NFL.

And it was the Rams' home stadium which played host to their memorable win over the Cincinnati Bengals as the became the second successive side to win the Super Bowl on home turf.

After the game, Kroenke was presented with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and sent a message to the "great fans of Los Angeles" to dedicate the trophy to them.

And he aimed a cheeky dig at critics of their stadium by joking "I think it turned out alright".

“Amazing, and just really proud of this group," Kroenke said. "So happy for them, and then you talk about these players.

“They’re unbelievable, and this just hung in there. It was a tough game and I’m just so proud of them executing like they did.

“As far as building this stadium goes, I think it turned out alright.

“Thanks to the great fans of Los Angeles, your first Super Bowl trophy in Rams house.”

Matthew Stafford's late touchdown throw to MVP Cooper Kupp saw the Rams emerge victorious in a tense and dramatic conclusion to the NFL season.

It meant Joe Burrow and the Bengals fell agonisingly short of an unlikely triumph as the star power of the Rams got them over the line in a back-and-forth encounter.

Arsenal fans will hope that Kroenke is able to bring similar success to the Gunners after their barren spell - but it seems Mikel Arteta and co. have a long way to go until
