Arsenal lose hamstrung Kim Little for WSL and Champions League run-ins

Kim Little, the Arsenal captain, will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, ruling her out of the Gunners’ dual challenge for the Women’s Super League and Champions League.

The 32-year-old Scotland midfielder sustained the injury in the Women’s Champions League quarter-final win over Bayern Munich on 29 March and tests have confirmed the extent of the damage.

A statement from Arsenal read: “Our captain has already begun her rehabilitation and this process is progressing well. We expect her to be available for the start of preparations for the 2023-24 season.

“Our medical team will support Kim closely over the coming months and we look forward to seeing her back on the field of play soon.”

Arsenal face Wolfsburg on Sunday in the Champions League semi-finals, the first time the club has reached that stage of the competition in 10 years. Their coach, Jonas Eidevall, had previously lost Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema to season-ending cruciate knee ligament injuries before Little joined them in the treatment room.

Eidevall’s team, third in the WSL, travel to leaders Manchester United on Wednesday in a crucial match in the title race. Arsenal lie three points behind United with a game in hand in a three-way run-off with second-placed Chelsea.
