Arsenal 'looking for' more than one deadline day signing at the Emirates

Arsenal are targeting up to two players on deadline day, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Mikel Arteta has already seen five new faces arrive in north London this summer, but the Gunners are still lacking squad depth and could look to make further additions before the 11pm cut-off time.

Arsenal shook off a midfield crisis to continue their exceptional start to the Premier League season by beating Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli struck either side of Douglas Luiz’s freak second half strike to keep Arteta’s side top of the table.

But the Gunners were forced to start fourth choice centre midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with both Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny currently on the sidelines following injuries sustained against Fulham.

Arsenal are also believed to the in the market for a winger, with Arteta yet to bring in a replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who was loaned out to Nice last week.

Despite their need for signings, while Bridge reckons that Arsenal are actively looking for further incomings, he wouldn’t be shocked to see the Premier League leaders end the day emptyhanded.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I had a reminder from people at Arsenal that they’ve spent a lot of money in the last couple of summer windows and the majority of them have turned out to be good signings, but they have spent, let’s not forget that.

“Let’s wait and see, they’ll be looking at one or two today, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if they don’t end up with someone.”
