Arsenal injury blow as Aaron Ramsdale a doubt to face Man United in crucial top four clash

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale is in a race to be fit for their crucial clash with Manchester United in April.

Ramsdale has been in fine form for the Gunners this season and has firmly cemented himself as Arsenal's number one goalkeeper ahead of Bernd Leno. However, Mikel Arteta on Saturday has revealed that the 23-year-old will be out of action with a hip injury.

Speaking ahead of their clash with Aston Villa, Arteta explained: "He has an injury in his oblique muscle and he will be out for a few weeks." Leno deputised at Villa Park.

Commenting on the loss of their number one, Martin Keown told BT Sport: "It is a loss. It’s not just the back four – people used to talk about our back four and David Seaman was quite magnificent – so you link that together.

"He’s a real character but I do feel as though he [Leno] has the pedigree to come in today. We’ve seen him play in the League Cup and the FA Cup and he’s performed much better and he has a point to prove.

"He was the number one goalkeeper and a lot of money was spent to replace him so he should have the character to deal with this today." Ramsdale's 12 clean sheets have only been bettered by Ederson and Allison both on 16.

United travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, April 23 in a must-win game if they are to qualify for the Champions League next season. Before Saturday's fixtures, Arsenal were a point and two games better off than the Reds.
