Arsenal could soon be handed a boost in their chase for Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer with Manchester City closing in on a deal of their own.

Mikel Arteta is preparing for a busy summer with added squad depth needed ahead of the return of European football next season. Midfield is just one area that is in serious need of strengthening and, despite playing in defence regularly for City, Zinchenko's natural position lies in the middle of the pitch.

He demonstrated that impressively on Wednesday night when Ukraine travelled to Scotland for their first World Cup play-off. Played amidst a backdrop of a war raging in their home country, Zinchenko inspired his side to a wonderful 3-1 victory at Hampden Park, setting up a final with Wales where that spot in Qatar will be decided.

The 25-year-old has won four Premier League titles since making the move to the Etihad in the summer of 2016 from Russian side Ufa for just £1.8 million. He made just 15 appearances in the top flight last season but still provided four assists, showing the quality he possesses on the ball to play in midfield.
