Arsenal ‘determined’ to keep ‘highly valued’ squad member as they ‘begin talks’ over new contract
Arsenal have opened talks with midfielder Mohamed Elneny over a new contract, according to reports.
The Egypt international is out of contract at the end of the season but recently revealed that he is keen on extending his stay at the Emirates.

When asked if he would be happy to stay even if he is not guaranteed first-team football, Elneny said: “Of course”
“I always love a challenge and give 100 per cent all the time. I don’t decide who plays but I keep going in training to show how good I am and to make him play me.
“If I don’t play I keep going until I get my chance.
“If Arsenal say ‘we want you’ I don’t think about leaving. It’s my family for six years. I love this club.”
The 29-year-old joined from FC Basel in 2016 and has made 144 appearances for the Gunners.

He spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Besiktas and was reportedly close to permanently moving to Turkey in January before Mikel Arteta blocked any potential departure.
Elneny was used sparingly by Arteta and Unai Emery but has recently emerged as an important player for Arsenal as they close in on a top-four finish.
After three consecutive Premier League defeats, the Egyptian came into the starting XI with Thomas Partey out injured and has been excellent in midfield alongside Granit Xhaka.
Arteta’s side have now won four games on the bounce and can secure Champions League qualification with a win at Tottenham on Thursday.
Elneny could be rewarded for his fine form with a new contract, as per The Athletic.
The report states that the midfielder is a ‘popular member’ of Arteta’s squad
