Arsenal: Arteta 'pleading with Edu' to bring £94.5m duo to the Emirates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to get deals wrapped up for Gabriel Jesus and Youri Tielemans quickly, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Gunners have identified the Premier League pair as transfer targets this summer as Arteta looks to strengthen his squad after narrowly missing out on the Champions League last term.

Having offloaded Alexandre Lacazette to Lyon, Arsenal are looking for a new striker, and Gabriel Jesus is their No. 1 priority for this position, as reported by The Athletic.

However, The Telegraph has claimed that Manchester City have offered Gabriel Jesus to Chelsea, indicating that Arsenal could have a fight on their hands to land the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, CBS via Metro has stated that Arsenal are confident of signing Tielemans from Leicester, although the midfielder has also been attracting attention from Tottenham and Liverpool.

O’Rourke suspects that Arteta will be very keen to get the £94.5m-rated duo through the door at the Emirates in the near future to limit the risk of either of them signing for another club.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it would make sense for Edu and Arsenal to try and push through with these moves before other clubs come to the table and try to rival them for their signatures as well. I’m sure Arteta is pleading with Edu and the recruitment staff to try and get these deals done as soon as possible, so he can start working with these new signings during pre-season and get them ready for the new season.

“The sooner they get these deals done, that means there’s no auctions or bidding wars going on for these players, because the longer it drags on, the price-tags will go up as well.”
