Arsenal: £50m star 'would be interested' in Emirates move
Arsenal target Youri Tielemans would be keen on making the switch to the Emirates Stadium, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.
The Gunners have made the Belgian their primary midfield target this window, but Brown doesn’t believe the ex-Monaco ace is close to securing a move to north London.
It’s been a strange start to the season for Tielemans, who’s featured in all four of Leicester’s games in league and cup but was dropped for their defeat at Southampton last weekend and then picked to start in a weakened side against Stockport in the Carabao Cup three days later.
According to The Sun, Arsenal’s main issue in the deal is around Leicester’s asking price. The Midlands outfit want more than £50m for his services despite Tielemans recently entering the last 12 months of his contract.
The report states that the Gunners could also be put off by his wage demands, with the 25-year-old asking for £200,000 per-week, which would make him the club’s joint-second highest paid player alongside Thomas Partey.
Meanwhile, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs believes that personal terms have already been agreed and it’s simply a case of Arsenal launching the right bid.
But while Brown believes that Tielemans would be open to moving to the capital, he said that nothing is imminent.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “It doesn’t sound like Tielemans was on the bench because of uncertainty over his future, but it doesn’t seem that Arsenal are pushing hard for him.
“It seems pretty clear that he would be interested in a move to Arsenal, but I don’t think it’s close at the moment.”
For Leicester to be demanding around £50m with less than one year remaining on his deal is quite ambitious.
