Armani Little looks forward to more improvements from the Gillingham team as players return from injury

Gillingham vice captain Armani Little knows there’s much more to come from the table-toppers.

The Gills sit top of League 2 after eight games but have yet to hit their full potential.

Manager Mark Bonner said from day one that he expected his team to get better as the weeks go by, and on Saturday was critical of their performance after beating Barrow 2-0.

Little agreed, accepting they can do much more.

Speaking after Saturday’s win, he said: “I'm really pleased with the three points. We went into the changing room (afterwards) saying there were still things to work on and that we can play a lot better than that and there are still things to come.

“Winning 2-0 at home, three wins on the bounce is a positive and we’ll just keep building on that really.

“It's still early days, so the table doesn't really matter. Whoever we're playing we're just going out there to do the job and try and get the three points.

“There's still lads that aren't fit at the moment who have been playing games and I think everyone had the same feelings, that there could have been a lot better patches of the game, even though we did win.

“We take the positives and there's still a lot to build on in this group.

“There's lads to come back (from injury) and you want to be pushed at every position and there's depth everywhere in the team. That's what you want, a real togetherness, pushing each other every day in training.”

"We were pretty average..." Today's performance didn’t impress #Gills boss Mark Bonner. Here's his reaction after the win against #Barrow
