Antony reaches agreement with Manchester United and asks Ajax to approve transfer

Antony has agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is now personally urging Ajax to accept their latest offer in excess of €90 million (£76m), according to reports in the Netherlands.

The Brazil international thrived under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and has been the Dutchman’s top target this summer as he looks to reinforce his attacking options at United.

Ajax, however, have stood firm over Antony’s valuation and have been demanding €100m (£84.5m) for the 22-year-old.

United have had multiple offers for Antony rejected by Ajax but their latest bid, which will be submitted on Thursday, is the closest they’ve come to matching the Dutch club’s asking price.

According to De Telegraaf, Antony wants the transfer completed within the next 48 hours and has already agreed a five-year contract with United.

The report claims that Antony’s team are already house hunting in Manchester, while the player is urging Ajax’s technical directors Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gerry Hamstra to allow his move to Old Trafford.

Antony has been intent on forcing through a switch to United having missed training with Ajax last week, as well as their 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend.

During United’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday evening, Antony posed alongside his brother for a picture on Instagram and made it clear that he was watching the game at Old Trafford.

De Telegraaf also reported this week that Ajax have been annoyed by Ten Hag’s continued push to sign Antony in the final few weeks of the transfer window.
