Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid: Simon Jordan slams 'greedy' intentions

Antonio Rudiger is expected to sign for Real Madrid in the summer after Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the German will not be signing a new contract.

The paperwork is yet to be signed, but speculation is rife that Rudiger has agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants and it’s just a matter of time before the formalities are finalised.

The deal is rumoured to be in excess of the £200,000 per week that Chelsea offered the centre-back before financial sanctions were imposed on the club earlier this season.

And whilst Rudiger didn’t sign on the dotted line for the Blues, it wasn’t the weekly salary which proved to be the sticking point, rather the hefty signing on fee and agent demands that reportedly came with it.

Discussing the transfer on talkSPORT earlier today, Simon Jordan was typically brash in his criticism of the player for what he deemed to be excessive financial motivations.

“Have a look at some these conditions. I mean have you seen the conditions these people want?” he said on the White and Jordan show.

“200 grand a week, which by the way is outrageous amounts of money. He wants a £10 million pound sign on…

“Are you reading this? His ghastly wretched agent wants £10 million quid.

“I mean this is madness! Greed… it’s absolute greed. He’s going to Real Madrid because he’s greedy!

“End of discussion. Good riddance!”

It’s not the first time Jordan has weighed in on financial arguments in football and given his previous experience as chairman at Crystal Palace he is certainly more qualified than most.

More to the point, he has almost certainly hit the nail on the head here.
