Antonio Rudiger's Club World Cup final antics that prove how much Chelsea will miss him

Antonio Rudiger has been a revelation under Thomas Tuchel.

In just over 12 months under his countryman's tutelage he has reinvigorated his Chelsea career and his place in the hearts of Chelsea supporters.

The Blues defender put in another accomplished display as Chelsea came away as winners of the Club World Cup to add to their Champions League and UEFA Super Cup win, since Tuchel arrived at the club - while the Blues contend the Carabao Cup Final later this month.

It was a tight contest against Palmeiras, in which Chelsea had to fight until the very end to earn their 2-1 victory after extra-time following goals from Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz.

That allowed for a match in which Rudiger played an important role but was also able to display the idiosyncrasies that warm the heart of the Chelsea faithful.

takes a look at some of those moments from the Blues' success in Abu Dhabi, that anyone at the club is sure to miss should he not extend his deal that is set to expire this summer.

Rudiger's consistency has been a hallmark of his time under Tuchel and in particular as part of a back three.

The German international once again showed why his head coach is so reluctant to rotate him on the left side with an important interception in the opening half hour as Palmeiras began to threaten in the game, and easily brushed Rony off the ball in the second period to affirm why he is so strong in one-on-one situations.

Was there a long-range shot to go with the performance? Of course there was but Rudiger is no meme, as he earned the Alibaba Cloud Match Award following his performance.

The former Roma star left himself on the edge of the centre circle as Kai Havertz lined up to take the penalty that would win Chelsea the game.
