Antoine Dupont named Six Nations Player of the Championship

Antoine Dupont has been named Six Nations Player of the Championship for the third time in four years.

The France captain picked up the award for the second year running, joining Brian O'Driscoll and Stuart Hogg as the only players to have won the prize in consecutive years, and matching the former Ireland skipper in winning it three times.

The scrum-half, who scored a try and had four assists in the tournament, came out on top of a six-man shortlist, with 26% of the more than 138,000 public votes going his way.

Dupont beat his countrymen Thomas Ramos and Damian Penaud to the prize, as well as Ireland's Caelan Doris, Mack Hansen and Hugo Keenan.

Doris and Keenan were included in the Team of the Championship, which was also confirmed this afternoon.

The Six Nations Grand Slam winners accounted for 10 of the 15 spots, with three for France and two for Scotland.

Seven of the eight forwards are Irish: Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan and Finlay Bealham in the front row, James Ryan was picked alongside France's Thibaut Flament at lock, and Doris, Josh van der Flier and Petr O'Mahony comprise the back row.

Johnny Sexton is also included, partnered with Dupont in the half-backs, while it's an all-Scottish centre of Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones.

Penaud gets in ahead of Mack Hansen on the right wing, with Keenan and James Lowe completing the Team of the Championship.

Six Nations Team of the Championship: Hugo Keenan; Damian Penaud (France), Huw Jones, Sione Tuipulotu (both Scotland), James Lowe; Johnny Sexton, Antoine Dupont; Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, Finlay Bealham; Thibaud Flament (France), James Ryan; Peter O'Mahony, Josh van der Flier, Caelan Doris.
