Anthony Martial's biggest admirer poses a serious question of Manchester United's January call

Manchester United fans thought the club had signed an absolute gem when they announced the arrival of Anthony Martial back in September 2015.

His debut goal against Liverpool will live long in the memory after he weaved his way through the Reds' backline before coolly slotting the ball beyond Simon Mignolet.

A host of ups and downs followed but it now looks as though Martial's Old Trafford career could be over, with the Frenchman heading for pastures new until the end of the season having fallen behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order.

The general consensus within the United fanbase seems to be that, even if he performs well during his loan spell in Spain, it would suit all parties involved if Martial completed a permanent move away from the club.

A return to form could put United in a position to command a higher fee for the Frenchman, with very few United fans keen to see Martial back in the side next season.

But could United have made a mistake in allowing the French forward to leave when he still has so much to offer?

Sevilla's sporting director Monchi has a great track record when it comes to building successful teams and he's well known for his ability to scout quality players who are perhaps undervalued by their club.

His expertise is what United fans are hoping Rangnick can bring to Old Trafford when he takes on his consultancy role in the summer.
