Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 fight date: UK start time and press conference

Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk meet this week in a London press conference, the second such event following last week's press conference in Saudi Arabia. That was a tight-lipped affair with both fighters thanking their hosts' hospitality and taking selfies together, but there is every chance that this week

Joshua will get the chance to regain the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles which he lost in the original clash in September 2021 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This was before Usyk, the unbeaten former cruiserweight, returned to his home country of Ukraine to assist with the ongoing war effort following the Russian invasion.

The fight will take place in August at the Jeddah Super Dome, with the 40,000 capacity stadium having already hosted WWE Elimination Chamber in February. It will not be the first time that Joshua has fought in the country, having won his rematch against Andy Ruiz there in 2019.

Both fighters spoke at the venue for the fight in a press conference in Saudi Arabia last week, and Joshua made it clear that he felt confident of winning back the titles he lost last autumn. He said: "I’m focused on the goal, god willing I’ll perform, and I’ll become three-time Heavyweight Champion of the World.

"With Andy Ruiz I think a lot of people can see before the fight things weren’t 100%. You’ve got to be strong, thick skinned; we take our loss like a man. When I win, I keep it moving and I thank everybody. When you lose, you have to stay humble as well in defeat. We kept it moving and I knew I could come back again and do what I have to do."

Joshua vs Usyk 2 will take place on Saturday 20 August.
