Anthony Joshua instructed to fight Deontay Wilder instead of Oleksandr Usyk amid Tyson Fury hope

Mike Tyson has admitted he would love to see Anthony Joshua face off against Deontay Wilder in the ring.

Both have reached a difficult period in their careers, with Wilder suffering back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury to lose his WBC heavyweight belt and has since been surrounded by retirement speculation.

Meanwhile, Joshua lost his three heavyweight belts in September to Oleksandr Usyk with a whimper and a second defeat to the Ukrainian in the pair's upcoming rematch may also see him face similar questions.

However, Tyson believes that Wilder shouldn't be looking to hang-up his gloves just yet and believes Joshua is a great opponent.

“I think Deontay Wilder should fight some other guys. He’ll do good, I just don’t want him to get discouraged," he told Club Shay Shay.

“He should be very happy and be ready to fight somebody else right away. I would love to see that fight [against Joshua].

“They’re gonna be winging. There ain’t gonna be much style, they’re gonna be winging.”

Joshua is set to return to the ring later this year as he seeks to win back his belts off Usyk but there is no date or venue announced for the rematch.

The situation in Ukraine will add further challenge to the mix, with Usyk returning to his homeland amid the Russian invasion.

He has signed up to join the Kyiv Territorial Defence, joining fellow boxers Vitali Klitchsko, Wladimir Klitschko and Vasyl Lomachenko in the fight.

Joshua and Fury were set for a unification bout in Saudi Arabia last summer but an American court ruled Fury must honour his rematch with Wilder.

Fury did his part by defeating the Bronze Bomber in the United States but Joshua lost his three belts in his mandatory defence against Usyk.
