Anthony Joshua ACCEPTS Tyson Fury’s 60-40 offer with 17 December date already booked at Principality Stadium

Anthony Joshua has accepted Tyson Fury’s 60-40 fight offer with Eddie Hearn pushing for the fight to take place in December, rather than November.

‘The Gypsy King’ has this week offered Joshua an immediate route back into the world title picture following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk to challenge for his WBC heavyweight title.

Fury, who is determined to fight before the end of the year, revealed on Tuesday he has offered the former champion a 60-40 split of the fight purse in his favour.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren also confirmed an offer would be sent over with Hearn now telling IFL TV they have accepted the deal which also includes a rematch option.

Fury was eager for the fight to take place in November but with Joshua just coming out of the Usyk rematch, Hearn has viewed December as a more realistic window.

The Matchroom chief also revealed Queensberry Promotions, Fury’s promoters, have already secured the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for 17 December.

‘We went back this morning. I spoke to AJ about the offer, we think, I think he deserves more than 40, but he’s happy,’ Hearn said.

‘I went back this morning and said we accept 60-40. We want that reversed in the rematch because rightfully so, you’re the champion here you want the big split which I think is fair and we want to do the fight in December.

‘Interestingly, Queensberry have that date, 17 December. I think that was the date he was meant to fight Dereck Chisora.

‘In essence, we accept the offer, we confirmed that this morning, lots of conversations were had. I don’t know whether this is a play to let this breakdown and fight someone well under par and say ‘we tried to make the AJ fight’ or to try get the Usyk fight agreed for a lot more money.
