Another 'world-class' player now tipped for surprise move to Aston Villa

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Aston Villa could target Luis Suarez.

Luis Suarez is now 35-years-old and has featured 27-times for Atletico Madrid this season in La Liga whilst scoring nine goals and assisting three times, according to Transfermarkt.

Suarez has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, as Steven Gerrard will reportedly monitor his situation in the summer. Gerrard has already shown that he can attract a different level of player at Villa compared to previous managers as he was able to lure in Philippe Coutinho in on-loan in January from Barcelona.

Despite the Uruguayan forward being somewhat a bit-part player in Spain this season for Atletico, Pete O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT that he still has world-class potential, and would be a great option for “someone like Aston Villa.”

“I think you’ve got to say, Luis Suarez, on his day, is still a world-class operator. He’s maybe not getting any younger right now, but on a free transfer, I think he’d still be a good signing for someone like Aston Villa,” O’Rourke said.

With Steven Gerrard already acquiring the services of former teammate Phillipe Coutinho, a move for Luis Suarez to Villa Park seems even more believable. However, Suarez is not getting any younger which has led to him being used sparingly by Diego Simeone this season having appeared as an unused substitute twice in Atletico’s last five games.
