'Announce quadruple!' - Man City fans in dreamland as Erling Haaland deal announced
Manchester City fans could barely contain their excitement as the club on Tuesday confirmed the signing of Erling Haaland.
After months of speculation, the Borussia Dortmund superstar now looks set to become a City player this summer, with an agreement reached in principle between the two clubs. The deal comes as a huge coup, with the Norwegian having attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United had all been linked with a move for the 21-year-old, with Real and City emerging as the frontrunners for his signature in recent months. It’s the Blues though that have won the race, with confirmation arriving on Tuesday by way of a club statement.

“Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022,” the statement said. “The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player.”
Having been targeting a new striker over the past year, City will now have one of the biggest names in world football on their books for next season. And fans couldn’t contain themselves upon seeing the announcement.
Having first caught the eye while at RB Salzburg, Haaland continued his outstanding goalscoring form when he made the move to Dortmund during the winter window of the 2019/20 season. The Norway international has scored 85 times in 89 appearances during his time in Germany and could provide the final piece of the puzzle for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
