Ange Postecoglou excited about 'homecoming' as Celtic confirms Australian tournament

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou says he is looking forward to a «homecoming» when the Scottish Premiership side travels to Australia in November for a four-team tournament.

Celtic will join fellow Scottish side Rangers as well as and A-League Men clubs Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in the Sydney Super Cup, which is set to take place during the domestic football break for the World Cup in Qatar.

The tournament will host the first match played between the Old Firm rivals outside of Scotland.

Postecoglou guided the Socceroos to their Asian Cup triumph in 2015 and was at the helm when they qualified for the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.

The most public display of affection between the divorced couple of Australian football arrived on Valentine's Day.

Celtic appointed Postecoglou as manager in June. The club is on top of the Scottish Premiership, a win ahead of Glasgow rivals Rangers.

«I haven't been home for almost three years by the time this comes around so I'm super excited,» Postecoglou told Celtic's website.

«The club has obviously been down there a couple of times before, and I know just how passionate the Celtic fans are about the football club, so we're looking forward to it.»

Postecoglou said it would be a «proud» return to Australia.

«It's a homecoming in many respects,» he said.

«That's where my roots are, that's where I grew up, and I know that since I've been in this position at Celtic, people have been following my journey — whether they know me or not — and I'll have a great sense of pride going back to Australia as manager of Celtic.»
