Andy Ruiz Jr shows off lightning hand speed in latest training footage

Andy Ruiz Jr is looking sharp in training ahead of his tough test against Cuban veteran Luis Ortiz.

The Mexican fighter still has ambitions to be the boxing heavyweight world champion again and he has quietly gone about his business in preparation.

Other than Oleksandr Usyk, he is still the only person to beat Anthony Joshua in the British fighter’s professional career.

If things had worked out differently, it could have been Ruiz who was taking on the Ukrainian fighter last Saturday night.

Back in 2019, Joshua was due to fight up-and-coming fighter Jarrell Miller in his US debut but the American failed a drug test so the bout was called off.

The Destroyer came forward to replace the disgraced Miller for the fightat Madison Square Garden.

It was expected to be an easy night’s work for AJ but that turned out to be far from the case.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were circling for a possible dream match-up with Joshua but those hopes were soon erased on the June evening.

The Mexican shocked the world as he won via knockout in the seventh round and turn the heavyweight landscape upside down.

Joshua regained his titles six months later with a points victory in the rematch – after Ruiz struggled to replicate his performance from the bout before.

The 32-year-old Mexican beat Chris Arreola last year to set up his fight with Ortiz and training looks to be going well if the recent footage is anything to go by.

Does @Andy_destroyer1 have the fastest hands in the heavyweight division?
