Andy Robertson makes Manchester United admission in Man City Premier League title verdict

Andy Robertson believes Manchester United are among the teams gearing up to join Manchester City and Liverpool in challenging for the Premier League title this season.

The Premier League has formed into a duopoly over the last five years, with City claiming four titles and Liverpool the other. Both sides have repeatedly finished the campaign within touching distance of one another and registered remarkable points tallies well into the 90s.

Playing at such a high level has meant that the other traditional big clubs haven't gotten close to claiming the league. However, Robertson reckons that United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all showing they want to be in the conversation this time around.

"For the last three or four years, it’s always been us and Man City in one and two,” he said. “Now other teams are getting involved, Arsenal look amazing this season, Tottenham look a different animal, Chelsea are getting going again, Man United.

“Those teams are trying to close the gap in terms of quality, but we’re too far behind to focus on that just now. We just need to focus on putting in performances like we did tonight because if we do that I believe we’ll get chances against any team, and defensively I thought we looked solid.”

Liverpool themselves have had a difficult start to the campaign but picked up a brilliant win over City at Anfield on Sunday. Robertson now wants the Reds to ensure they build on the win and begin to climb up the table.

“We were obviously brilliant, but we need consistency," he added. "We’ve had a couple of performances this season where people have said, ‘can this kickstart the season?’
