Andreas Seidl talks McLaren performance after points finish in Australia

McLaren Team Principal Andreas Seidl says that he feels as though Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo extracted the maximum from their cars over the Australian Grand Prix weekend.

The season picked up significantly for the McLaren team over the course of round three as they saw both cars qualify, and finish, inside of the top ten.

Indeed, they’ll be pleased to have seen reliability and increased speed as they hoisted themselves up to fourth in the Constructors’ standings, and the aim has to be to try and build on that in Imola.

That said, Seidl gave a positive verdict post-race in Melbourne, saying that he felt the drivers got the very best out of their cars over the weekend:

“Yeah, I would say so.

“Obviously, with these cars being brand new, the tyres being a bit of a different specification compared to the past, there is still a lot you need to learn in terms of what you can do with these tyres over the race distance.

“Doing these long stints on the hard tyres – actually both tyres – was also not easy to guess how much tyre management you had to do.

“So there was always a bit of management as well but I would say both cars, Lando and Daniel, had pretty much the same performance.

“I think they, in the end, extracted everything that was possible to extract from our car and also very happy with that.”
