Andre Onana has already proven Luke Shaw right at Manchester United

Andre Onana may have only played less than two full matches for Manchester United but he is already showing evidence of why he was signed by Erik ten Hag.

Notable differences between the Cameroonian and David de Gea have been highlighted when it comes to his playing style. Clearly his distribution is much better but he also has the confidence to be more offensive, positioning himself higher up his own half during attacks and providing an outlet for his defenders when needed.

With this new style of goalkeeping comes challenges for United's defenders, something which Luke Shaw pointed out prior to the Borussia Dortmund pre-season friendly. He told MUTV: "I think, definitely, he will keep us on our toes, but we expect it.

"I had seen a lot of him before he came here and I had seen the quality that he has. I think he's only going to add strength to kind of how the manager wants to play. The manager looks to play out from the back and I think he is the perfect fit for that.

"Like I have said, he will keep us all on our toes and keep giving us the ball." Whether Shaw meant Onana would be keeping his defenders on their toes in more ways than one is unknown but the game in Las Vegas proved the shot-stopper was taking no prisoners.

Despite only being at the club for a short period of time, Onana had no issue barking instructions at Harry Maguire when he was deemed to have switched off. The former Inter man has now set a precedent at United.
