Andre Onana did something Manchester United fans will appreciate after Bayern Munich howler

Andre Onana buried his face into the Allianz Arena turf and a surprised Leroy Sane celebrated what shouldn't have been a goal.

His shot from the edge of the box, which any goalkeeper worth their salt would save, had somehow trickled through Onana's gloves and Manchester United's new signing didn't need to be told he'd committed the cardinal sin.

Bayern should have killed the game and they would have on another night. The hosts were the better side and they deserved the victory, which condemned Erik ten Hag's side to a fourth defeat in just six games this season.

Onana was the first to emerge from the dressing room and he told TNT Sports: "It's difficult to lose this way. We started very good and after my mistake, we lost control of the game and it's a difficult situation for us, for me especially.

"I'm the one who let the team down. The team were good, but because of me, we didn't win this game, so we just have to move on. This is the life of a goalkeeper and if we didn't win today, it's on me.

"We were good on the ball [at the start], they didn't create any chances and then I made a mistake. The team went down because of the mistakes and I have to learn from it, be strong and move on."
