Analysis of Luka Modric's stunning assist vs PSG shows just how good he really [video]

Luka Modric played an integral part in Real Madrid’s incredible comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

At 36 years of age, the Croatian is still bossing it at the highest level and helped Los Blancos overturn a 2-0 deficit to advance to the quarterfinals of the European competition.

And while we all know Modric is capable of galvanising a game of football with his elite vision, creativity and insane ball control, he treated us to a true midfield masterclass during the game, notably teeing up Karim Benzema for his second goal of the match.

His brilliance has been highlighted in a video posted on Twitter by user @MrJason020, who has provided some analysis of how the Madrid No.10 initiated the sequence of play that led to Benzema’s second goal.

Interestingly the clip starts by showing him scanning the field, looking at where the PSG players are on the pitch to try and recover the ball.

With Neymar in possession on the left wing, Modric spots Messi awaiting a pass inside and patiently waits for the Brazilian to drag in two Madrid defenders before attempting to play the ball to his Argentine teammate.

Reading the move, he intercepts pass before it can reach its target and turns to drive upfield at pace.

While on the move, you can see the Croatian scanning where the space is on the left-hand side before releasing a diagonal ball to Vinicius Junior, who glides past the broken PSG defence.

Arriving in the box, the left-winger is slowed down by several arriving PSG defenders and gives the ball back to Modric, who plays a simple yet intelligent pass to Benzema.
