American Elizabeth Lemley wins moguls gold, Canada's Maïa Schwinghammer 5th
Elizabeth Lemley of the U.S. won the gold medal in Olympic women's moguls on Wednesday at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games after a shock ending to the final round.
In the final run of the day, defending Olympic champion Jakara Anthony caught an edge on her way down the course. The Australian was unable to recover, finishing last in the eight-person field.
American Jaelin Kauf (80.77) took silver and Perrine Laffont of France (78.00) claimed the bronze medal.
Canada's Maïa Schwinghammer, of Saskatoon, scored 77.61 to finish in fifth place.
Fellow Canadians Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert, of Sainte-Adèle, Que., Vancouver's Jessica Linton, and Ashley Koehler, of Lac-Beauport, Que., did not advance to the medal round.
