Alpine's Pierre Gasly stripped of Monaco GP podium after McLaren and Red Bull win appeal - ESPN

Pierre Gasly's penalties from the Monaco Grand Prix have been reinstated 89 days on from the race, meaning he has lost the podium to Isack Hadjar for a second time.

Gasly finished third on the grid during June's grand prix but was immediately demoted to seventh position when two 10-second time penalties issued to him for incidents in the race were applied.

That elevated Hadjar to third and McLaren's Oscar Piastri up to fourth, with Racing Bulls pair Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad fifth and sixth, respectively — that order has now been confirmed as the official outcome of the race.

Friday's verdict gives Hadjar his second F1 grand prix podium and his first since joining Red Bull this year.

Gasly was one of five drivers to have been given penalties for minor speeding infractions in the pit lane — he had entered the pits 0.1 km/h and 0.4 km/h over the 60 km/h limit on two visits.

Gasly's penalties immediately shuffled him down the order, losing him and Alpine the podium and nine championship points.

Alpine was able to successfully protest the result a week later, with his penalties removed and his place on the podium reestablished ahead of the following week's Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

Alpine had put forward a case that the FIA's system used to measure speed on pit entry had been flawed, an argument that was accepted.

However, Red Bull, McLaren and Racing Bulls then protested that decision. On Friday, the FIA's International Court of Appeal — independent of the FIA's sporting and regulatory administration — threw out the verdict of Alpine's appeal, which the FIA itself also defended.
