AlphaTauri unveil revised livery on 2022 F1 car

AlphaTauri has revealed a revised livery on its 2022 Formula 1 car designed for this year’s all-new technical regulations.

The Faenza-based team comes off the back of a sixth place finish in last year’s constructors’ championship, equaling its previous best from 2008 and 2019.

While it often had a car capable of fighting bigger spending outfits, a lack of consistency proved its achilles heel as it lost out to Alpine in a season-long duel to P5 in the standings.

For a second successive season, AlphaTauri retains its driver line-up of one-time grand prix winner Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda.

Gasly proved to be one of 2021’s standout performers, qualifying in the top-six at 16 of the 22 races and netting the team’s only podium finish in Baku.

Tsunoda’s rookie F1 campaign turned out to be incident-packed, and the Japanese driver struggled to shrug off his erratic form over the course of the season.

But the Honda junior driver showed promise, particularly on his debut in Bahrain and during the second half of the year, with regular Q3 appearances and a fourth place finish at the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

AlphaTauri’s AT03 features a similar blue and white colour scheme to its predecessors, which it adopted when the team rebranded from Toro Rosso in 2020.

The team’s car launch means half of this year’s grid have now unveiled their 2022 challengers, with Haas, Red Bull, Aston Martin and McLaren having revealed their designs.

AlphaTauri will give the AT03 its first on-track run-out at the first pre-season test, which takes place on February 21-23 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
