'Almost in a world of trouble' - Journalists slam £150k-p/w Liverpool titan over 'silly' moment

Ian Doyle criticised Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson following a ‘silly’ moment in their FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed before the game that the 29-year-old was the preferred goalkeeper for the competition.

Caoimhin Kelleher had started in the third and fourth round, before the Brazilian took over for the round of 16 tie against Norwich City.

Early in the second half at the City Ground, Alisson mishit a clearance following a backpass from Ibrahima Konate, but Forest were caught offside as they tried to profit on the error.

Liverpool Echo journalist Doyle wrote on Twitter that the ‘keeper had been let off the hook after his poor judgement, saying: “Alisson gets away with a mishit pass as Forest are offside from the rebound. Bit silly from all concerned, to be honest.”

Meanwhile, The Echo’s Paul Gorst said that the 29-year-old had just about avoided calamity, stating: “Alisson almost in a world of trouble with a poor clearance but the offside flag eventually goes up.”

For the mor the most part, it was a very quiet evening for Alisson, aside from a brief late scare when Ryan Yates went down in the penalty area in a 50-50 between the two. Forest mustered only one shot on target, with three efforts flying wide and another blocked.

His distribution was where he could make a difference. He completed 26 of his 30 passes overall, but three of his five long passes went astray (via SofaScore).

Alisson, who earns £150,000 per week at Anfield, has already made one error leading to an opposition goal this season, and he was fortunate to escape another this evening.
