Ally McCoist on Wales, Wrexham and being a 'closet fan' of a North Wales club

Football legend Ally McCoist has had his say on various football topics including the prospect of a Wales v Scotland World Cup showdown, his memories of Wrexham AFC and why he is a "closet supporter" of a certain North Wales football club.

McCoist was talking to North Wales Live as part of his role as an ambassador for National Lottery Football Weekends, a campaign aiming to get people out to watch and get behind their local football team, perhaps for the first time, and experience the vital role these clubs play as part of their local community.

The Rangers and Scotland legend is now a respected TV and radio personality, performing punditry and commentary duties for the likes of BT Sport, Sky Sports and TalkSPORT.

The National Lottery Football Weekends campaign across the four home nations will make over 100,000 tickets available on a ‘Buy One Get One Free’ basis for National Lottery players for selected matches across three weekends in March and April, including for games in the JD Cymru Premier and JD Cymru North and South leagues.

McCoist revealed that he is a huge supporter of lower league and grassroots football and he said he didn't hesitate when the National Lottery approached him to become part of the campaign.

He said: "The guys asked me to be a supporter and an ambassador and straight away I said yes because it is something that is very, very close to my heart - non-league and lower league football. I started off myself in lower league football and I know just how important it is.
