Allen, Wallace, Allsop - The Championship free agents West Brom could sign this summer

With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Steve Bruce and his recruitment team will have 157 Championship players coming to the end of their contracts that they can try and nab on a free for West Bromwich Albion.

The free agent market will undoubtedly be a highly competitive arena this year as every club will be on the lookout to sign some absolute bargains. And there are definitely some to be found in the summer window with a number of top quality players letting their deals run down.

The most notable of all has to be Blackburn Rovers goal machine Ben Brereton Diaz. The Chilean international will likely be beyond the purview of the Baggies with the striker almost certainly setting his sights on a move to the Premier League, but there are many other names who would be excellent targets.

West Brom will be keeping a keen eye on any goalkeepers that come on the market with Sam Johnstone and David Button's contracts running out; Cardiff City shot stopper Alex Smithies and Derby County's Ryan Allsop could be fitting replacements.

Speaking of the Rams, Tom Lawrence will be a highly sought-after asset when he becomes a free agent after enjoying a terrific personal campaign. Stoke City's Welsh Xavi, Joe Allen, will no doubt have his suitors with the quality and experience he brings to the table.

Blackpool's Josh Bowler, Millwall's Jed Wallace and Reading midfielder John Swift are three more players in brilliant form that any second tier side would love to sign on a freebie. But if any of those high profile names turn out to be too costly in terms of wages for Albion, then they could do worse than look at Tyrese Francois, a promising young talent who has found opportunities at high-flying Fulham hard to come by.
