ALL traffic stopped on clockwise M60 due to police incident - live updates

All traffic has been stopped on the M60 due to a police incident.

Drivers are being temporarily held on the clockwise carriageway between J22 A62 Manchester Road (Failsworth) and J23 A635 Manchester Road (Ashton Under Lyne).

Live traffic data shows that congestion is also building due to the closure, which was first put in place around 7.40pm as the emergency services deal with the incident.

According to National Highways, the four-lane motorway is completely shut, with traffic being held within the closure.

Motorway camera footage shows a long queue of traffic being held as of 7.45pm.

Further information about the nature of the incident is not yet known. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
