All Creatures Great and Small star details problem with Christmas special

The All Creatures Great and Small team encountered quite the hitch when shooting their Christmas special for Channel 5.

While Peter Wright and Shona Searson, from The Yorkshire Vet, witnessed the scenes unfold behind the curtain of last year's Yuletide episode, the crew struggled due to unseasonable weather conditions.

With front-row seats to the action, Shona couldn't contain her enthusiasm, telling Peter: "I'm really excited for the actors to arrive and to see them come in."

Agreeing with a sense of humour about the incongruent conditions, he quipped: "Yes, in their winter coats", laughing as the day was unusually sunny. Battling against the scorching heat, the production team faced an issue highlighted by the programme's voiceover which stated, "The summer sun is continuing to present challenges for the director of photography, Ian, on the Christmas set."

Ian himself admitted to the difficulty with the festive scenery, conceding: "We've got an issue with the amount of frosting. Most of our dusting in blowing away in the nice summer breeze that we've got.", reports the Mirror.

Nonetheless, the show must go on, and the special aired successfully on 21 December last year.

In related news, Nicholas Ralph has revealed that they've wrapped up filming for season five. Taking to Instagram, the actor, known for bringing James Herriot to life on the small screen, shared a moment from their wrap party with co-stars Rachel Shenton, Samuel West, Anna Madeley, and Callum Woodhouse.

Accompanying a celebratory group selfie, Nicholas announced: "S5 wrapped." The much-anticipated new series, set to grace our screens this autumn, will delight fans with six episodes and a special festive treat.

Channel 5 has yet to release an official
