Alisson nearly put a significant dent in Liverpool's title hopes with a moment of madness against Aston Villa.

It was a mistake-riddled first half at Villa Park with the sides all square at the break as Joel Matip cancelled out Douglas Luiz's opener.

It was an uncharacteristically poor first half for Alisson who is normally so reliable for Jurgen Klopp's side in goals. There were question marks over the Brazilian in Villa's opener as Luiz's initial header was pushed back in the direction of the midfielder for him to slot home when Alisson could have parried it away from the danger area.

Matip pounced on Tyrone Ming's blunder at the back for Liverpool to get on level terms, but the visitors nearly surrendered the lead immediately with Alisson at fault once again.

The goalie lost his footing as a back pass went to him and instead of playing the ball to the right which had the majority of space, he tried to force through a pass to Fabinho. Ollie Watkins was in the way however and almost intercepted the ball which would have led to an open goal, but his first touch bounced back to Alisson who scrambled to get the ball clear.
