Alexandre Lacazette reveals confidence fear despite boost in race for top four finish

Alexandre Lacazette has warned Arsenal must continued putting in the hard yards to avoid confidence dropping as they chase down a top four finish.

Arsenal secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Wolves at the Emirates on Thursday night, coming from behind with Lacazette forcing the own goal that sealed the win deep into injury time.

The win sees the Gunners move up to fifth place, now just a point behind fourth place Manchester United with two games in hand.

‘We really wanted to win today because we know it’s important to be on top in the table,’ Lacazette told Amazon Prime after the late win.

‘So after conceding the first goal it was a hard game but we didn’t give up until the end and this is good for the team.’

With no European commitments and having been eliminated from the FA Cup, Arsenal can focus solely on the top four race with the club also three points clear of West Ham and six clear of Tottenham.

However, Lacazette has warned ‘confidence can drop really quick’ in the young Gunners side with the skipper eager for the group to retain focus.

‘It gives us a lot of confidence but as well we have a young team so the confidence can drop really quick,’ he said.

‘So that’s why we have to keep working every day in training sessions.

‘We trust the coach for this and we listen to him every day. So we hope at the end of the season we’re going to finish top four.’
